Hiking upstate New York
I'm finally getting around to sharing with you some photos from my hike in the Mohonk preserve that I did a couple weekends ago when I visited the cute town of New Paltz (see that post here). New Paltz is located about 90 miles north of New York City, about a 1 1/2 hour drive. I had absolutely no idea how amazing this preserve was and how much they are doing to protect the Shawangunk Mountains and it's natural resources and animals. They aim at encouraging people to "care for, enjoy, and explore the natural world" by providing this space to hike, bird watch, rock climb, bike, and more!
There are so many trails to choose from and we'll be definitely be back to explore more of them!! But for our first hike, we stuck with the "fairly easy" trail (~2 hours back and forth) which took us to a breathtaking look-out at the top of a steep rock climb. It felt good to get some much-needed exercise and geez, take a look at that view! Seriously fulfilled my craving for nature that I've had for the past few weeks!
If you live in New York or plan on visiting, I do hope you get the chance to check out this beautiful place! . . .
